World Congress on Thyroid Cancers, London

World congress on Thyroid Cancers, London on 14th June 2023 The Indian Society of Thyroid Surgeons was given a full three hour separate satellite session for the second consecutive term at the recently held meeting of the World Congress on Thyroid Cancers at London on 14th June 2023. The session was widely appreciated. It comprehensively covered a wide range of topics pertaining to present day management of thyroid cancers in India. Dr Madan Kapre, Chairman Governing Council and Dr Jatin Shah, Elliot Strong chair for Head and Neck oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering made opening remarks. The lectures were delivered by President Dr Jyoti Dabholkar (Scope of Molecular biology in decision making for thyroid pathologies in India), Dr Rajendra Toparani (Re-operative thyroid surgery), Dr Kaustubh Patel (Tracheal resection for advanced thyroid cancers), Dr Sivakumar Thiagarajan (IONM in thyroid surgery), Dr Archi Agrawal (Radio-isotope therapy in medullary thyroid cancers), Dr Abhishek Vaidya (Neo-adjuvant Lenvatinib for anaplastic thyroid cancers). Dr Elizabeth Iype presented perspectives on long term outcomes for Differentiated thyroid cancers from South India. Dr Neeti Kapre Gupta spoke on unique diagnostic algorithm for improved detection of malignancy in indeterminate modules. Dr Ashok Shaha, Jatin Shah chair for Head Neck Surgery at MSKCC, New York was the moderator for a riveting case based panel discussion. Dr Gregory Randolph, Dr Jyoti Dabholkar, Dr Anuja Deshmukh, Dr Abhishek Vaidya, Dr Munita Bal and Dr Archi Agrwal were the panelists. The three day long conference also saw very encouraging participation from the Indian delegation. Dr Madan Kapre spoke on reducing complications in thyroid surgery and was part of initiative of perspectives for thyroid cancer management across the globe and NCCN at WCTC. Dr Amit Agrawal ex-HOD SGPGI, Lucknow also participated in the academic deliberations. Dr Anuja Deshmukh (video presentation), Dr Vidisha Tuljapurkar (poster presentation), Dr Arpita Singh (paper presentation), Dr Bansal (poster presentation) showcased brilliant original research work from India.

Annual Conference of Indian Society of Thyroid Surgeons and Asia Pacific Thyroid Society 22nd – 26th March 2023 The joint Annual Conference of ISTS and APTS was held at Cochin with Dr Subramania Iyer as the Organising Chairman and Dr KK Thankkappan as Organising Secretary and Dr Pankaj Chaturvedi as Scientific Chairman. There were 6 pre-conference workshops including surgical, IONM and laryngeal re-innervation. This was followed by a comprehensive scientific programme comprising lectures, debates and symposia covering all aspects of management of thyroid disorders.

Hands on Cadaver Dissection Workshop for Thyroid Surgeries on 17th -19th January 2023 Indian Society of Thyroid Surgeons, Thyroid Society Nagpur and Rotary Club of Nagpur South jointly conducted 21st Annual Thyroid Surgical Camp at Chikhaldara. Hands on Cadaver Dissection Workshop for Thyroid Surgeries was conducted at Shalinitai Meghe Hospital. Total 45 surgeons from all over the country attended the workshop. 12 major thyroid surgeries were demonstrated with hands on experience for delegates

Thyroid Masterclass for the learners and the learned”, an international live webinar was organized by the Indian Society of Thyroid Surgeons on 27th June 2020 Stalwarts in Thyroid Surgery from across the globe were faculty for this webinar. Record number of more than 1500 participants logged in to view this webinar. The interactive session with audience it-self lasted for about an hour. 20th Annual Melghat Surgical Camp 27th -29th Jan 2020

20th Annual Melghat Surgical Camp was organised by Indian Society of Thyroid Surgeons, Thyroid Society Nagpur and Rotary Club of Nagpur South at Rural Hospital Chikhaldara 27th -29th Jan 2020 Pre Workshop CME Before the Thyroid surgical workshop there were lectures on Imaging in Thyroid by Dr. Raju Khandelwal and FNAC in Thyroid by Dr. R. Ravi, Dr. Madan Kapre demonstarted Cadaver Dissection Thyroid Surgery. This programme was held at Datta Meghe Medical College Nagpur. Annual Thyroid Surgical Workshop This year surgery and anesthesia technique were telecast live from Chikhaldara to a thyroid CME being conducted at St.Mary Hospital London. Surgery from London was transmitted live to the delegates in Chikhaldara . Surgical faculty were Dr. Madan Kapre, Dr. Deven Mahore, Dr. Abhishek Vaidya, Dr. Neeti Kapre Gupta, Dr. R. 18th Annual Thyroid Surgical Workshop” held at Rural Hospital Chikhaldara under the joint aegis of Indian Society of Thyroid Surgeons on 23rd – 24th February 2019 18th Annual Thyroid Surgical Workshop” held at Rural Hospital Chikhaldara under the joint aegis of Indian Society of Thyroid Surgeons, Thyroid Society Nagpur and Rotary Club of Nagpur South. It was attended by 40 delegates from all parts of the country registered for the workshop. They were given lecture demonstrations on Imaging and FNAC for Thyroid by Dr. Khandelwal and Dr. R. Ravi in Nagpur and then all delegates and faculty were taken to Chikhaldara. Faculty were Prof. Neil Tolley, Prof. Endocrine Surgery at Imperial College, London. Dr. Madan Kapre, Dr. Devendra Mahore, Dr. R. B. Deshmukh, Dr. Abhishek Vaidya . Dr. Deepak Abraham from CMC Vellore. Dr. Murad Lala from Hinduja Hospital , Mumbai. Dr. Jyoti Dabholkar and Dr. Rahul Modi from Mumbai. Anesthesia faculty were Dr. Vidula Kapre, Dr. Pallavi Godghate, Dr. Swapna Bhure, Dr. Kalyani Basekar and Dr. Rucha Vaidya. In all 9 complex thyroid surgeries were performed.3 surgeries were performed completely under Cervical Epidural Anaesthesia. Intra operative Nerve Monitoring was demonstrated in 2 surgeries. There were lectures on various aspects of Thyroid Surgery.
